Odd messaging problem...

My friend has the S7 Edge through Sprint and he was showing me a problem he has been having. I've searched for a resolution and have yet to find anything. In his stock messaging app, when he receives new messages they are not automatically placed at the top of the message screen and are instead several messages down, i.e. he may have 2-3 texts from different people at the very top but then has a new text, say from his wife, on the list below the top three and not on the very top as it should be listed. Hope that makes sense. It's not a time/date problem as his issue is not within a conversation with someone...just the actual people texting him are out of order. If this doesn't make sense let me know. Not sure what to tell him to troubleshoot as I feel I've checked everything.

He does he have a pin on the right side of the ones that stay on the top? With the nougat upgrade you can pin certain conversations to the top and they will stay there

The next time I see him I'll take a look at his phone to see if the messages up top are pinned. Thanks for the reply!
