I have a 2017 Civic LX with the entry level radio. How do I connect my S7 Edge via USB like an iPod? It will connect via Bluetooth but I cannot control anything other than the volume. I do not want to have to touch my phone while driving, I want to be able to change artists through the radio controls exactly as I can with an iPod. If there is an app that will allow me to use the Bluetooth to control the file selection I will gladly use it.

I have an Accord and when I connect using BT, everything that is being played shows on the stereos screen and I can control it with radios controls and also with the steering wheel controls.

I would try and delete the pairing on the phone and then repair. You should be prompted on the phone when the phone pairs, to allow the car stereos access. I am able to browse all the music/artists/albums/song titles on the stereos screen just like I can with my iPod connected to the USB port in the car.

Let me know if you need more help and I can try.

Along with what @NexusGirlX said, the entry level radio may not have all the controls and capability you're looking for.

I would also start with the owners manual. It should say what your stereo capabilities are. Yours may or may not have voice commands available to play music as well. I can tell mine to play Pink Floyd and it will.

Thank you, that seems to have worked. I was hoping to use USB instead of Bluetooth. I did read the owners manual and knew I did not have some capabilities. I know that iPods/iPhones use a different data transfer protocol than Android, but I was hoping for a work around.

I'm looking at getting a Civic LX hatch with the base radio. I tried Bluetooth and it worked well. Since Android Auto works well running on my phone, I think I'm just going to get a good phone mount and just use BT. The other upgraded radio in the new Civics were just slow and then interface was just horrible. I'd rather just use my phone for everything.
