I've downloaded Facebook wrappers/lites in the past like Metal pro (It loads the side menu for a long time and it gets frustrating when you want to do stuff but it's still loading for some reason.). Which then makes me go back to Facebook's official app.

So is there any good Facebook & Messenger lites that work real well? That won't send me running back to the official Facebook and messenger app and dealing with it eating up battery.

You mean apart from the official lite versions? Or have you tried those yet?

I have yet to find an alternative Facebook or Messenger app that fits my needs. I'm still looking though.

I don't think I've tried the official lite versions. I'm not sure I know which ones those are.

you can try to search the android store for Facebook Lite and Messenger Lite. they will be the ones developed by Facebook themselves.

@chanchan05 - I downloaded & installed the messenger lite. Now I just have to find an app for Facebook that doesn't eat up as much battery.

Ok then. But as far as I know, all third party facebook apps are simply containers for the mobile website.

So far, other than messages (which I handle through Messenger Lite because they artificially blocked Facebook messages on the mobile site), the Facebook mobile web site has performed as well as (and arguably better than) the apps. There are these new "story" things that I am starting to see notifications that I am not allowed to see because I'm not using the app, but it does everything I actually care about on Facebook - and it uses 0% of battery when I am not using it.

If I cared about notifications (personally I don't except on Messenger) I could have them send me SMS notifications, but since they don't have my phone number now that would be a feature I would add with some reluctance.

Thanks @terellw. That's what I'm looking for. A not as power greedy app for Facebook. That loads and doesn't have too many issues.

I'm going try out 'Friendly for Facebook' app. I downloaded the Messenger Lite app.

Sometimes, I can't even view the 'Stories' that friends add on the actual Official Facebook app . I get notifications for them but I can't see them.

I don't think I even message that much on Messenger.

The advantage of the full apps are that Messenger can also be used for SMS, so you have chatheads for them, and the full Facebook app allows you to use Facebook for login in other apps without having to enter your credentials. Other than that, just the rest of Facebook's full features.
