I have a Galaxy S7 and no matter what, I can't seem to shake away the "you're dangerously low on space" message. I have a 60GB SD card in and it doesn't seem to be working very well. When I first put it in, I attempted to transfer all my data from storage to SD card and it was fine for a while but somehow not everything transferred and I'm out of space in phone storage once again. I can't seem to figure out how to transfer all my data to SD card. Any help would be appreciated.

You can off load some app data to SD card but not all. I recommend you don't do that as can cause slowdown, freezes, because they can get corrupt and have slower write speeds. Use a app called disc usuage see where all your usage is going, or uninstall some apps.

How do I off load app data? Also I installed that app and found that nearly all my storage space is in "system data." I'm not really sure what that is because everything else appears to be in "media."

You don't want make SD card internal storage, only keep as portable, can you post some screen shots?

Welcome to Android Central! Samsung doesn't allow you to format the SD card as Internal Storage, so it's really only good for saving media files and document files. Some apps can also save some data on the SD card, but the apps themselves have to be installed to Internal Storage.

Show us a screenshot of your Settings>Storage menu: http://forums.androidcentral.com/gen...d-central.html. The DiskUsage app can also be helpful to figure out what's taking up your space in more detail.

Is there anything wrong with having SD Card internal storage? I only needed it because I simply needed more space on my phone.

If the apps themselves must be installed to internal storage, does that mean there's no true way of having extra space on my phone? The apps are what take up the most space.

This is a common topic -- SD cards are inherently much less reliable than Internal Storage, and significantly slower as well. So using SD cards as Internal Storage puts the user at risk for system crashing and data loss if/when the card fails, and performance will take a hit. Adoptable Storage was only introduced as a way for very low end phones with very little internal storage to try to gain a little more app installation space, but it's never a good idea for the long term. SD cards have always been best for storage of data files like media and documents (and they should never be the sole storage space for important files -- always make sure they're backed up somewhere else).

The unfortunate truth is that if you want to have a lot of apps installed, you need a phone with more than 32 GB of internal storage (considering how apps are getting bigger and bigger as time goes on). 64 GB is widely considered the bare minimum for any midrange phone, and 128 GB for flagships.

If you use different messaging apps (like Telegram or kik), check if they have built up gigantic app caches -- they're somewhat notorious for that. Clearing their app caches might recover a significant amount of space.

I agree with b.diddy and I explained in post #2 about SD card and why it's not recommend. Your phone came with 32gb which is not enough for today especially you start downloading many apps , so either you have to manage apps by uninstall the ones you don't use often or maybe start looking for a phone with lot more storage for your usage.

That's a shame. I thought I would be able to have alot more space but I guess not. It might be time for a new phone anyway so I'll be sure to get one with more space to start with. Thanks for your help!

My S7 is set up to save as much as possible on the SD card. I am not too worried about losing any photos or data like it because the backup program on my computer also backs up important data from my phone.

Do you use any cloud service for backup? My suggestion is to use Samsung Cloud, Google Drive / Google Photos and / or OneDrive in addition to local backup.
