Android is taking up 30% of mine as well. Is Knox the issue? How does one turn it off?

Knox is using a ton of battery. I see this is for security, should I disable it to get better battery life or is this needed?

I think it's used for enterprise security. It won't let me disable it

I have Verizon version. It's letting me down with battery life so far. Any tips?
I found that Verizon Cloud was set to automatically backup everything EVERY hour. Absolutely NOT necessary for me , nor for most people I would imagine. So I disabled the app. I think it's helping some. But I'm still showing Android System as the largest battery consumer.

I'm on ATT and I can't disable it. I can Force Stop it under settings >application manager but that's it. Says it's used 16% of my battery since last charge which is ridiculous.

I don't think I had a choice. I never created a Knox account so I have no idea why it would be running. There isn't even an actual Knox user app on my phone.

I hope Samsung fixes this bug, as it doesn't seem to be an isolated incident.

30% ???? Well, that's odd, and way too much! I have a Moto G and it uses around 5% battery.

I bought package disabler pro and disabled Knox and other bloat. Will update with results

Same here, just bought it also. I'm disabling just a few items at a time, (maybe just 1 or 2 per day) to see which ones may be the culprit .

There is no set value that the OS should be using. It is relative to the other usage of the device. If you use your screen a lot more, then the OS usage as a % of total will be lower. If you're one who idles a lot and has a lower screen time, then OS will be higher as a % of total. Jason Stroud1's screenshots are perfectly normal because the phone is idling a lot of the time and the screen is barely being used. Mrrikki's screenshot is perfectly normal because the screen is being used over twice as much. Signal strength, type of connection (WiFi, LTE, HSPA, etc), screen on time, GPS activity, wake activity, etc. all have huge impacts on battery life.

Mine seems to be high too, but I did get around 24 hours of battery time yesterday (8 hours of which was sleep time for me) and 4.5 hours of screen on time, which is fine for me. Went I went to sleep I had 10% remaining, which I can live with, but Android System is showing as > 20%.

To be honest ... those stats do not sound bad at all. I really wouldn't worry about the system showing as 20%. Something has to be taking up the battery and as long as it is taking up the battery to the point of just draining it rapidly, well, then really no issue .

That's not true because I have used my phone for a couple hours straight screen on time and the android system was still higher. And also I've seen people with 15+ total hours and 4 hours screen on with lower android system usage. I've used this phone like I've used all the ones before and never has android system consistently been higher than my screen
