Google Pay not working?

I've been trying to use Google Pay for the past week and have been getting an error message. I like Google Pay because it has all my cards already and I don't want to set up Samsung Pay. Phone is stock t-mobile S7. Suggestions?

The error message is:

Android Pay Cannot Be used

Google is unable to verify that your device or the software running on it is Android compatible

I had that happen. Changing the DPI setting caused it. There has been a few articles about using Nova launcher to switch to a different DPI and this is a possible and weird side effect
