    Hey folks;
First, I have found a similar thread where folks are complaining of the same issue I am seeing:
S7 flat: unresponsive touchscreen | Samsung Galaxy S7

Basically, I am getting some missed taps, mostly in the lower right side of the device. It is most noticeable when using any keyboard, but is not limited to keyboard apps.

Here is a video of the exact issue I am having, where a touchscreen testing app can show the issue most clearly:

The app used here is a free one called Yet Another Multitouch Test. https://forums.androidcentral.com/e?...token=_V_eSKDv

I could possibly live with it, but the location of the missed taps is right on the backspace area of most keyboards, and sometimes the space bar.

I can't just return or swap the phone now...I have had a few days, and unfortunately Bell Mobility here has a 50mb limit on mobile data that can be used before a return, so now I have to go through warranty if I want it fixed or swapped (the xda thread I linked to suggests that the issue is fairly common, but its the only thread I can find).

If this is software, I can wait for a fix. I used a dialer code I found somewhere that shows the touch screen firmware and does an update, but I saw no difference when I tried it. I did a factory reset after my phone did an update, cleared the cache and did a full wipe and reset three times through the recovery menu.

Anyone have this issue? Would love to have seen people with this issue having seen it disappear after an update, etc. (Canadians are running the Exynos version).

    Thanks!

Yup. It seems to be an issue with almost all s7s... I've tested other android phones as well as a very old bang up s4... none at all. Every single tap was registered. EVEN the gentlest of taps. It is shocking that a flagship device in 2016 from a behemoth like samsung can have this issue. I really hope they fix this asap. Most people will assume that the issue is due to their human error while they type. So it's easy to overlook. I hope they get this fixed asap

Yeah, my wife is often complaining about missed taps... Especially with the camera app. And it drives my son mad when he plays geometry dash.

I've contacted samsung support and son far they've asked me just to factory reset the phone. I've done this several times already.

Just trying to figure out if this is hardware or software related for the time being.

I'll keep u guys posted to see if there is a solution.

As was said in the other forums dialing *#2663# and updating the tsw is a possible fix for some touch issues.

However I'm still getting the issue when testing the touchscreen with either the Samsung keyboard or a 3rd party touch screen tester

If this is a widespread issue I'm pretty surprised that Sammy missed this. Been a loyal samsung fan for some time now. I'm considering apple now.

Never thought the day would come when I'd go back to apple.

U can't argue that their phones are very reliable despite lacking in the latest hardware tech.

If it weren't for this issue I'd say my s7 was near perfect. Very disappointing.

I'm praying that this is just software related and will be addressed in a future update.

Thanks for the app. Just tried and I'm happy that my screen is responsive and now I have something to use to test it. What I noticed is that light touches on screen protectors will not work. This is the worst phone for adding screen protector to

So this is the reply I got from samsung.

"Thank you for taking the time to contact us at Samsung Technical Support. We always appreciate hearing from our customers.

It must be inconvenient as the touch screen is not being recognized in all the parts of the screen. I will provide you with the troubleshooting steps which may resolve the issue.

There are no reported issues with respective to any of our products and we do not have access to Non-Samsung websites.

    Possible causes:

    1. An accessory, such as a case or screen protector, is preventing the screen from responding.
    2. A third-party application has caused the phone not to respond.
    3. Hands are wet or lotion was just applied to hands.
    4. The phone has experienced some type of physical or liquid damage.

    Troubleshooting:

    1. Remove any accessories such as a case or screen protector.

    2. Clean the screen with a dry cloth to remove any excess oils or dirt.

    3. Dry hands and/or remove any lotions from your hands.

    4. Perform a Soft reset on the phone. Soft Reset will refresh the internal circuit of the phone and close all the apps that are running background.

Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for 7 seconds simultaneously for approximately 7 seconds till the phone reboots.

    5. It may be necessary to boot your phone in Safe Mode to check whether or not added applications are causing problems with the phone. Safe Mode will load only basic system software. Please follow the below instructions to boot the phone into Safe Mode.

    a. Power the phone OFF.
    b. Press and hold the Power key.
    c. When the phone vibrates; release the Power key and immediately hold down the Volume Down key
    d. Keep pressing the Volume down key until the phone boots up completely.
    e. If successful, Safe Mode will appear on the phone screen in the bottom left corner.

If the phone is working as expected after you put the phone into Safe Mode, the issue may be due to a recently updated or installed app. To uninstall any downloaded apps by following the below steps.

    a. Touch Settings.
    b. Touch Application manager.
    c. Touch the app to uninstall and tap on uninstall.

If the issue isn’t fixed, perform a Factory Reset on your phone. Factory reset steps will completely reset the phone, deleting ALL settings and all data on the phone (including phonebook entries, pictures, games, and messages). Please back up the phone data by following the below steps.

Please install the Smart switch application on your PC and connect your phone using USB cable to transfer the data.

    Direct Download for PC:
Samsung Smart Switch™: Transfer Contacts, Music & More

    For Mac: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e?...token=8z-6NHxj

Steps to backup data to the PC:
    1. Connect your Samsung phone to your computer using a USB cable.
    2. On the Smart Switch screen, click MORE.
    3. Click Preferences, and then select the Backup items tab.
    4. Select the content types you would like to back up, and then click OK.
    5. Click Backup on the main Smart Switch screen. It may take several minutes for the backup to be completed.
    6. A screen appears, informing you that the backup is complete. Click Confirm.

Most of the issues should be resolved by a Factory Reset. If the issue persists after a Factory Reset, it seems to be an issue with the phone and the phone needs to be examined physically to find the root cause/service.

Samsung provides 1 year warranty on the phones from the date of purchase. Any physical or liquid damage on the phone will not be covered under warranty. For more information regarding the warranty on your phone, please refer the web link mentioned below:

Soooo... they don't have access to any websites that aren't samsung.....

If the next software update doesn't address this issue...I'm gonna sell the phone and go with another brand .

    One plus 3 looks promising

    Apple is good too.

    I'm very disappointed in Samsung.

If your Samsung Galaxy S7 has problems with the touch screen, here it seems to be the solution – phoneia

An article that acknowledges the issue with low sensitivity at the bottom of the screen of the classic s7.

The article claims that the newest update has fixed this issue.

Has anyone installed this update and verified that the missed tap issue has been addressed ?
