Another Battery Drain Thread (No Oculus Installed)

I have been having severe battery drain for a couple weeks now. I have read the other threads discussing the Oculus rooms app, but I do not have any Oculus related apps that I am aware of.

I do not have any cell service at work, so I enable airplane mode first thing in the morning and connect to wifi at work. This has always worked before, but the last couple weeks have been bad. The thing that has me scratching my head is that one of the top battery killing services is cell standby. It says that I haven't had signal for over 60% of the day. It also instructs me to enable airplane mode to improve battery life, which I already do every single day. Is there an app that is keeping airplane mode from enabling?

I try to wipe cache and reboot at least once a week. This hasn't helped so far. For some reason, even on airplane mode, my phone is searching for signal. As I mentioned before, this wasn't a problem until a couple weeks ago.

Not quite the exact same scenario, but I am experiencing high battery drain on my S7 too. No Oculus installed either. I contacted Samsung and they wanted me to send the phone to them to check it out.

The Sept security update has screwed up the radio (so many are having connectivity problems, draining battery) AND it's causing excess drain with Oculus and Gear VR apps. There is no solution yet but deleting Oculus and ForceStop Gear VR seems to help a little.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Verizon's fix for my phone. It had a fast battery drain with Oculus uninstalled and even from a factory data reset. Either Samsung or Verizon (or some collaboration of the two) have a piece of software for upgrading and 'repairing' the phone. The repair part of the program backs up the phone and does something that is apparently more in-depth than a standard factory data reset. I'm at ~11hrs on the phone now with moderate use (calls, Bluetooth to my vehicle for navigation, some spotty coverage and a little web time) and the battery is at 51% left. The estimated remaining usage time is another 11 hrs. I was lucky to get 12 hours total before.
