wireless charging in new chevy silverado trucks

I have bought a new Chevy Silverado truck with a wireless charging pad.
My Samsung Galaxy S7 won't charge on it.
What's the problem?

So you're saying it should be working? When I set my phone on the pad it doesn't light up, nothing. Doesn't do a thing.
Should I have a certain phone cover?
Can anyone confirm that they are in fact using the charging pad in the new chevy silverados?
I went to the Verizon store and they said the Galaxys aren't equipped yet for TOTAL wireless charging. They still require a wire. Is that right?

No that's not true. However things have to be lined up just right between the charging coils and the phone..

All that being said, shouldn't you just be plugging it in and using Android auto anyway?

The charging pad in the chevy silverado's are pretty darn handy! But it looks like I'll be plugging it in.

galaxy s7 is equipped for wireless charging, i have them all over.
i have used the charging pad in the chevy truck and it is very finicky, there is something not right about it. try it with the case off, at least that will tell you if it works, but is just weak.
