Weather Underground app not autostarting or updating

I use the "Weather" app by Weather Underground. It worked great on my old S4. Now, on my new S7, it won't autostart when I restart my phone (I checked - it is set to load when the phone restarts), nor will it auto-refresh. I've tried doing it every 30 minutes and also every time I unlock - neither works. Anybody else run in to this with this app or something similar?

Also use this app. Info on notifications bar (temp) updates automatically and seems to start each time phone restarts. Weather report on lock screen, which might be Samsung app, needs to be manually refreshed. Probably not a helpful answer, other than to show that it may not be an app issue but some interaction on your phone.

Different from my issue, Weather Underground has been killing my battery recently if I don't manually close it out. It's the only thing that has topped android system for me anytime recently (an entirely different problem). Happens even if I open it only once or twice during the day.
