My S7 has buggy with my home wifi ever since I purchased it in November. While chrome, facebook, email, and some other apps worked fine at home, features within other apps that required a data connection did not. This included the google search on the gboard as well as uploading pictures via flckr. My AT&T guy finally "solved" the problem switching from IPv6 to IPv4. Now it works.

I found a thread on the S7 Edge section discussing having to do the same thing to deal with problems with wifi (not sure if the issues were the same as mine exactly). This was from nearly a year ago. You'd think this would have been fixed by now. Has anybody else had to make this adjustment to their router?

I haven't found a satisfactory explanation for this either. I thought it might be "IPv6 brokenness" (as described here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv6_b...S_whitelisting), but that article says that this issue has essentially been fixed. Regardless, we still see this issue crop up from time to time, often in relation to Google services.

While I guess it doesn't matter much for me now that my home wifi was rolled back to IPv4, I'd assume this will be fixed in Nougat. Kind of crazy it's been allowed to persist this long.

The thing is, I'm not sure if it's an Android issue -- it might be an issue with the various servers out in the wild. I'm not technical enough to know for sure, though.

I don't know. The AT&T tech did it.

For wi-fi, you need to log into your router's settings page using your desktop browser -- see the router's manual to learn how. Typically, you type in the local IP address into your browser's URL bar. The default admin username is usually Admin, and the default password is either blank or password, if no one ever changed it.

For mobile data, you need to edit your APN settings in Settings>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names‚Äč.
