I'm fairly new to Android and have been using my s7 since Oct. Before I upgrade to nougat I wanted to ask about how nougat might impact my s7. I currently use Nova Launcher so I'm assuming the interface won't change that much with the update. Is that right?

Also I had to install Greenify a few months ago to help with bad battery life (and it helped a lot). Will Greenify still be needed with Nougat? How does the update affect Greenify (if any of you are using it).

    Thanks

Nougat is different, I don't like it as much As Marshmallow to be honest. Nova launcher works fine.
You can shut apps down like you can with M. I think my battery is not lasting as long, however it could be reaching the end of its natural life too. The battery saver function is very good, big impact. Also you can adjust the screen resolution in N!
I think The UI is boring and ugly but themes can fix that. Ditto for icons.
Horses for courses really, have a look around the forums to see what others are saying. I don't think I'll update my S6 to N..

This is usually the result of any updates after the initial software the phone was released with. Sammy (or any OEM for that matter) paints and polishes the version of OS they test and build the device with and follow up software updates don't get the same attention to detail.

Yes, Nougat is a bit plain looking but TBH I like plain sometimes and most importantly if it works then I'll deal with it.

Decided to get the update yesterday. I uninstalled Greenify first. Then I updated. So far it's working great. Battery is fairly good without Greenify, so I may not reinstall. I don't mind the changes I've noticed so far. Nice launcher works as it did before.

Emailed USCellular asking if they have a timeline for when my S7 might be getting Nougat (especially now that we're already hearing about O on the horizon). Here's their reply, putting it back onto Samsung. Have sent this to Samsung for response. Any input from anyone out there? Feels like I'm getting the runaround. And on Samsung website couldn't even find my phone's model number, which is a bit concerning. Full model number SM-G930R4. Also still on security patch of 1 December 2016.

"Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us regarding your software update concerns. I definitely understand the importance of your request and I apologize for the lateness in receiving my response. In response to your concerns, I will be honored to assist you today.

Cathy, I can certainly appreciate the importance of having the most current software version for your Samsung Galaxy S7. Please understand, the software updates are released directly from the device manufacturer. Once the device manufacturer releases it for U.S Cellular, you will receive the request on your phone to update your software version. I regret that I am unaware of the timeframe."
