If you pull down your notification drawer, is there any app notification?
Have you checked your 'Apps' area in Settings to see recently-run apps?

How can I remove the upside down blue teardrop on the right side of my screen

The upside down tear drop icon in the status bar is showing gps is active, I believe. You would need to turn off gps to make that icon go away.
