Help please

I bought my s7 recently and did the nugat update and we'll I'm disappointed with the performance and battery life but my question is why is the fingerprint option not working, I have it set to fingerprint and it will just let me swipe up to unlock it most of them time and if I leave the phone for awhile and pick it up it will ask for my fingerprint?

Try cache partition wipe after all updates especially ones as big as Nougat! That should clear out the debris from the previous OS and freshen up the phone...

Also, Under Secure Lock Settings in Lock Screen and Security check your settings for lock automatically.
