I purchased a used Galaxy S7 off of ebay, and I've had problems with it rebooting from the start. The problems didn't seem that significant at the beginning, so I didn't worry about it but now it's too late to return the phone to the seller (stupid me).

I've been researching things and here's what I've learned. Based on the inscription on the back of the phone case, this is an SM-G930P phone (Sprint). The software on the phone reported that it was an SM-930A phone, and the firmware version was G930AUCS4BQE1. I have AT&T service.

The phone restarts pretty frequently, and the problem seems to be getting worse. I did a factory reset, which did not solve the problem. However, I accidentally noticed that if the SIM card was not inserted, the reboots stopped completely. When I turned the phone off, inserted the SIM card, and restarted the phone, they started again. This is with no new applications installed, just the stock firmware

The phone was not receiving version updates OTA, and I believe this is because AT&T bases revisions on the IMEI associated with a specific SIM card, and the IMEI is likely still the IMEI of my old Galaxy S4 (I just swapped my SIM card into the S7 from the S4, after cutting it down to size.)

I downloaded the G930AUCU4BQF3 firmware and updated to that firmware via sideload/SD card. However, the problem persists...the phone again started rebooting once a new SIM card was inserted (I always inserted the SIM card with the phone powered off.)

Note also that the phone shows the same behavior regardless of whether the charger is applied or not. So, I don't think it's a battery issue.

Any other ideas on what I should try? Could this possibly be related to the fact that this was originally a Sprint phone?

    Thanks for any advice...
