I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 running Android 8.0 and it randomly factory reset. All things were recovered except for photos, and I'm trying to run recovery software. The first thing I need to do is root the phone, so I am attempting to install TWRP. However when I try to start the phone in fastboot mode to install it, it sits on the screen saying "Downloading... Do not turn off the target" and will not load past it. I can easily restart the phone normally but I can't seem to get into fastboot mode. Is there anything I can do? Thanks

I moved this to the S7 Rooting forum for more specific traffic.

Download mode isn't the bootloader. This thread on XDA may help you.
