I have an iPhone 7 Plus and absolutely love the optical zoom and the portrait mode. Of course they do come with flaws, like the portrait mode works well only with sufficient lightning.

Not to mention Honor 8 with dual camera produces stunning photos with their wide aperture mode. I have an Honor 8 as well and the wide aperture mode has enabled me capture some great shots.

Do you think S8's camera features will focus on specific modes to beat iPhone 7/Plus? If so, what new modes are you looking out for?

I for one, want to see Samsung push the boundaries here and give a camera that can take portrait/wide aperture mode photos better than iPhone 7/Plus, may be with hardware acceleration as opposed to software manipulation.

Wide aperature? Do you mean wide angle? The S7 has an f1.7 lens on it, which is one of the best for smartphones.
The portrait mode for the iPhone sounds a lot like Samsung's selective focus feature.
I don't think there's one phone that does everything the best in regards to the camera. The Google pixel is right near the top as well. The Snapdragon 835 is supposed to improve the camera features as well. I'm sure that Samsung will do something to enhance the camera. It's just one of those things that don't get typically leaked far ahead of time.

I am sure Samsung will include something with their camera to try and set it apart. Not to mention they have multiple modes in their cameras which give similar methods to what the 7plus does.

The difference between 1.7 and 1.8 is almost meaningless in photography
