the question I have is, does this button have to be pressed? I know it can be with some Haptic feedback, but can that be turned off and be used just like a pixel where u just touch? somebody know?

A few hands-on videos have suggested it's both. When the nav buttons disappear from the screen, you "Force Touch" that area and the buttons come back on screen. Once on screen, you tap just like any other element.

Hopefully you can swipe up in full screen apps like you can with every other Android device with on-screen buttons.
