T-Mobile got video calling but it's only for TMo customers and not every phone has it (for Samsung it's phones newer than S5/Note3)

Google Hangouts is basically the same as FaceTime. But I use HD Voice / Video calling. I think it's carrier-dependent...I have Verizon and I make video calls to my family all the time, straight from the normal phone app. There's a regular phone icon for voice calls, or a video camera icon to make a video call. You can even switch from one to the other mid-call. Works awesome, integration is perfect. You have to enable it from the settings menu, I think it's under Advanced Calling.

I haven't tried to do video calls to friends on other carriers yet. Plus it's only for Android. You would think that all the carriers would agree on one VoLTE standard so we could all video call each other.

The answer is no, Google releases many apps, but masters nothing natively like facetime... regardless of your carrier it just works, and its not a app, its natively built into the system. Just like iMessage... after all this time, Google cant compete in those areas at all.

Duo is Google's most recent video chat strategy. It works accross all platforms and has been extremely reliable all over the world for me.

Galaxy phones support video calling between other Galaxy phones. Your carrier must also support video calling. A green camera appears on your contact if video calling is available with that person. It is part of Advanced Calling in settings.

On my Verizon device it won't let me enable. Does Verizon have to flip it on on their end first?
