Exynos-based GS8 showing markedly superior battery-life endurance to the Snapdragon version of the phone
That was one of the things i was looking for. Today, a lot of people care about SOT and how long they can go between charges. So any battery improvements will be nice It does look like overall, the Exynos wins (5 Wins out of 9) but the win is very marginal. So thats good to see. Maybe the battery size and power was what made the difference in the Galaxy S8+. Anyway thanks for the post @Cakefish

Thanks, Verizon. They're the only thing keeping Exynos out of North America.

I think it's actually because Qualcomm owns many patents in regards to LTE modems.

It's CDMA support (and, yes, the patents that Qualcomm has for it), that's why there's two models. The S7 had an Exynos chip in Canada, but after the Note 7 Canada is stuck with the same Snapdragon as the Americans are.

Exynos runs slower clocks to get close to Snapdragons scores. This year the Exynos is much stronger in graphics. Running the 835 right now and it is still excellent.

Three of the five largest carriers use CDMA.

The largest one and the smallest two, though. If Sprint or US Cellular had the relevance Verizon does then you'd think stuff like WiMax would get somewhere.

Regardless, once VoLTE comes around then it should light a fire under Qualcomm, unless they have a secret plan with American carriers to dawdle with infrastructure to keep themselves relevant.

Adreno 540 is an evolution of the Adreno 530, it uses the same underlying architecture. Mali G71-MP20 is a complete revolution compared to the Mali T880-MP12, thanks to a completely new architecture. That's how Samsung managed to overtake Qualcomm, it was thanks to ARM (they design the Mali GPUs). Of course, Adreno 540 is still very impressive.
