If you can deal with the size of the plus I would go that route. With your useage I don't see you having any issues with the s8+. As far as the regular s8 I don't know I have no experience with, but judging from some of the people on here it looks to get a good amount less sot than the plus.

That is what I wanted to know...I am looking at the S8 and not the S8+. I want something that I can text, talk with one hand and I want something that goes in pocket and I can forget about. Sounds like I am going to need to wait as the S8 is likley not going to make it through a long day with moderate use???

Thanks for this context. This board is great!

I have no problem with the S8 edge in my pocket or one handed use.... I mean I don't wear skinny jeans but yea no issue here. Have you tried it out in store? It isn't really THAT much bigger than the S8.

It's definitely your problem. What carrier is this?

Check your Mobile Network Settings on Connections and see if you identify there any unusual setting. Also, no, you don't need to turn everything off on this phone, if you are on that point, better go and exchange it for a new one and tell them that the reason is that the battery must be bad.

BUT, even with a brand new phone I'd check for your Mobile Network settings, and if if they are by default, try switching between the options to see if there is an issue with your carrier and the signal/bands that you are actually getting.

I'd advise you to do a full backup with Smart Switch, save everything possible, then do a Full factory reset, set everything back and if it keeps doing the same, ask for an exchange, this phone has a great battery if you are not getting it then you have a rogue app or some kind of other hardware/network problem that you won't be able to fix it by yourself.
I don't see anything special in the settings but then again i don't know what to look for.
I live in Belgium and use my french SIM in my 955f exynos. So it's true that my signal is not always great. But still I'm having a tough time this is the reason why you get 8 hours and i get 3 hours !
So yeah since I'm using a foreign SIM card I'm also roaming 24 hours 7 days a week. Does this have an impact ?

Here's the screenshot of my signal reception from g Sam. Thanks for the help anyway.

Cell coverage actually makes a huge difference. My work vs home number are vastly different.

Plus different apps/brightness and all kind of factors. You also have the Exynos version and most of us have the Snapdragon version.

I'm impressed. My V10 would barely get 4 hours of screen on time. An hour of this was watching 1440p videos on YouTube with the brightness up pretty high, with lower brightness I'd get even longer.
A fellow former V10 user. 😁 . Yeah, that phone got 4hrs SOT at BEST. typical i saw was 2 to 3. Sometimes i barely saw 1.5 thanks to that phone deciding to lock GPS for hours at a time for reasons that I never was able to figure out. (Even happened when I turned location services off, which shouldn't be possible, I suspect there is a bug in its OS).

That's what's having a huge impact on battery.

Maybe you should try getting a local SIM with better coverage and test it out. I'm sure your results will be a lot different.

This. I have small hands and have no issues with the size. IMO it's the perfect size.

First couple of days were fantastic, then the battery just started getting worse. Though still is able to keep up with me much better than my Nexus 6P did.

I'm on a S8, and mid power saving mode was enabled upon entering the 50s-60s percentage.

(I've only used my phone for texting, calling, web browsing, and Skype messaging.)

First full day on my S8+ without any charging. Hard to break the habit of not plugging in at my desk or in the car. Anyways, only 1 hour of WIFI and the rest is just cellular. Resolution all the way up and brightness 50%. Way way better than my Note 5 whereas I got about 3.5 SOT. How does this compare to you guys?

Longest call I made was 1hr and 10mins so far. Battery dropped maybe 4 percent in that time. And I also pulled phone back and uses speaker phone for the call and browser while talking for a little while. Theoretically you should be able to hold many long phone calls on a single charge.

After a week, I'm done testing. I am thoroughly satisfied. I've been getting over 5 1/2 hours SOT and although I could get that on the S7 edge, I NEVER got it 6 days in a row. As always, individual usage will vary. Some may get more or less than 5 1/2 hours.

I get similar battery life than you. Pretty terrible huh?!! At least compared to all those guys above claiming to have 6hrs +

Biggest frustration I have (vs iOS) is the lack of granular tracking built into Android, everything is just hidden under android system. Not really helpful!

Don't know how this is possible
This is my first galaxy S
After buying the latest Note last few years, and I have to say , I'm amazed! buy the battery life on my s8 plus
Here's what I got today out of my battery

13 hours of use Including 6 hours screen on time and I still have 51% charge on my phone
With qhd+ WiFi off Exept for 1 hour when I got home, location off, don't use it unless I need it, About 30 min web, 1-1/2 hour music on Bluetooth at the gym about 30 min youtube and about 2 hour video (granted most of my sot I spent reading, about 3 hours Wich doesn't spend a lot of battery)

Well got my best sot today. I'm absolutely blown away with this battery. 9hrs sot is ridiculous and about 3 times as good as my s7 edge. I also had almost an hour of phone calls too. This is with auto brightness, wqhd, sync, WiFi, Bluetooth, and high accuracy location on
