I agree they take up space and most are tucked away by owners in an anomaly folder.

Dependant on network some can be removed or stopped / disabled.

This is also one reason I buy from Samsung and not via a Network.

All depends on the carrier device. Some things can be removed and some only disabled. I use package disabler pro and disable everything I can't remove. It hides it from the system so it's like it's not there anymore. A small consolation.
