I've had the phone since the nineteenth and dropped it for the first time today. Walking the dogs early this morning and was fiddling with it then dropped it and it pretty much bounced on the blacktop Street a few times. Completely unscathed. Wearing the caseology clear case with black border.

Man, it's a good thing you had that case on, they can be a lifesaver with these phonesツ

I brought the case in with me when I pick the phone up from UPS LOL so it has not been without one just occasionally when I'm checking it out. And I was walking to Huskies so that's why it kind of fell out of my hand. Sometimes they are unpredictable when they see creatures

The black reinforced border I think is what takes most of the impact away from the phone itself

A smartphone made with a glass back is, in my humble opinion, the stupidest design decision I have ever seen.

I completely understand that! When I first got my S7 edge I was without a case for 2 days, I wouldn't even take it out of the house:-)

I love Huskies, well, dogs in general. You have some really nice looking pooches.

I used to go naked until last year. I dropped three. Two was damaged but my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge fell chest high into the side walk and it was amazing that not a single single dent or scratch.

I was done and went back to using cases. Before I only did while at work and take it off afterwards. Now it's rare probably a few hours in the house.

I have had a case on my smartphone since I dinged my first Blackberry in 2006. At that time, AT&T still subsidized phone costs. I have used a Defender case for the next Blackberry, which dropped down two flights of concrete steps without any damage and all Galaxy devices since the GS3 except the GS5 which I skipped.

The GS8 edition of the Defender is the slimmest to date. I am wrassling with applying a tempered glass screen protector as when it comes time to sell it, removing a $50 screen protector is hard to swallow. I do like the pristine appearance when I do sell them. Alpha Glass is specifically designed for the Defender.

The front is glass so what difference does it make. The front can still crack so you would still need protection. The iPhone does not have a glass back yet can still suffer damage when dropped.

Glad yours made it unscathed. I've yet to drop mine. Knock on wood. I have a case coming today, but isn't gonna offer much drop protection. I'm looking for a balance of protection, good looks, and as little bulk as possible. Not as easy to find as you'd think.

Glad it was ok....your heart must have skipped a beat! Mine well out of my gym shorts while on the leg press machine at the gym. It only fell about a foot on the carpet but my heart stopped for a second. I didn't have a case on at the time.

Back in the days when it was plastic, Samsung got all sorts of grief for making it plastic. So if not glass, what do you suggest, clay maybe?
Ceramic would be my suggestion. Some phones have used it and I believe you can still have wireless charging with ceramic opposed to no wireless if you have a aluminum or metal back

I prefer plastic myself. It takes a beating and if back is removable it can be cheaply replaced. I never understood the whole "premium" feel of glass reviewers tall about. 90 percent of people feel that premium glass back and throw a thick slab of rubber or plastic over it because it's so fragile. Kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it?

Exactly. Buy a phone which is super pretty and then hide it behind a case. Very smart.

Yea, Nokia used ceramic for their colorful Windows Phones. And, like you said, they could still use wireless charging.

Maybe. But these companies are just listening to their customers. The ones who want beautiful designs and wireless charging. And as you can see, from a marketing standpoint, it has worked.

Was it a glass screen protector? If it was it's a crappy one.
