Hey guys, I was looking at the s8 plus to replace my LG V20. I have had nothing but trouble with the signal voice and data. I was wondering how the s8 plus was doing compared to your previous handsets.

That's good to hear, I have 4 other iPhones on my plan and they all seem to have better call quality and data connection than the V20. I was doing some research and found the s7 edge was supposed to have a pretty strong antenna/ signal.?

Can't find anyplace where anyone has done a comparison or test, I'm just hoping that moving to the s8 plus will be a upgrade signal wise to the V20.

Have posted this elsewhere in the past couple days & don't want to sound like a broken record but...
The S8+ has the best reception I have ever had. Have never been able to make calls from home reliably without a signal booster nor download content previously. Can make calls on this at every corner of the yard, out in street etc. Also watched youtube while the power was out during a storm the other day without any delays/loading times. Buy it! :)

Mine is as good as my V20. No difference in that department.

I work in a casino is my iPhone 7plus struggles to do anything in our break room, It jumps to 4G from LTE and hardy will do anything. Today I was in the break room and has full signal LTE and it worked just fine. Calls also worked from deep in the guys of the place. I am on T-Mobile. If it proves to be true, thats all I will need to keep it.

I'm coming from a V20 as well and having the exact same issue, with the v20 youtune always played on nice quality 720 or 1080 and without any pauses for buffering, with the s8+ it often switches to 144 quality and it pauses A LOT for buffering I don't know if it is a problem with youtube only but is really annoying and was wondering if anyone else has having the same problems.

Wow better than the iPhone, that's good to hear, I'm leaning towards the 8 plus. I think I will miss the camera and quad dac though but, you have to be able to use it on your network or it's worthless

So you are saying the V20 had better signal?

In some areas yes, I'm not sure if they use different bands or something like maybe the v20 was more compatible with the towers close to work but is weird for example with the v20 I always got 20-30 mbps if checking on the speedtest app and with the s8+ sometimes I get up to 70 which is great but other times I get less than 0.8 mb download speeds at the same location and that when youtube is almost useless, I hope is software and doesn't have to do with the antenna

Interesting, I just want a usable phone. Today for some reason my phone jumped to roaming outside my house in a great LTE service area, that was a first.

Why did it jump to roaming? do you live at the border? I live at the border and I also notice internet was sometimes a little slower using roaming compared to the v20 but as far of call quality I have had no problems

No, im in good 4g LTE coverage. This is my replacement phone, first one kept going to WiFi calling, with our horrible internet. So in home I would have horrible call quality. And other issues.

Since you've had both the V20 and s8 plus which do you like the best overall?

I prefer the S8+. The V20 is a nice phone, particularly if you have a good set of headphones and like listening to music. It's camera is terrible compared to the Samsung unless you're always shooting in manual mode, in which case it's very good. It's video camera is terrible for filming moving objects compared the the Samsung. Finally, it's battery life is abysmal. You absolutely have to carry the spare around.

With the Samsung, the screen is much nicer, the camera in auto mode is much better, and the video camera is fantastic on moving objects. It's battery life so far has been excellent. It feels slower than the LG V20 though despite having a newer, faster Qualcomm chipset, but 90% of the time it's fast enough. I have been experiencing some lag on the S8+, and am hoping that won't come back.
