The struggle to find a balance between durability and aesthetic appeal continues to be a challenge for Samsung and LG.

We get a phone with edges that extend to infinity and beyond, but has the durability of a china doll.
We get a phone with traditional edges, large screen, but compromises shatter resistance for scratch resistance.

The experience and features are great on both devices, but how can one fully enjoy them without constantly thinking, "I better not drop this..."

I went to the grocery store over the weekend with my S8 and handed my phone to the cashier so she could scan my loyalty card. As she stood there with my phone in her hand, time literally froze. All I could think of was she better not drop it.
No cashier is ever going to touch my phone lol.

I believe easier to scratch and easier to shatter.

Is the back glass thinner/cheaper glass than the front?
For some reason I feel like Samsung does use a cheaper back than the front. On the S7, it was obvious the back felt more like plastic. Maybe they used a glass/plastic hybrid finish?

They could be like the G6 and use GG5 on the back and GG 3 on the front.... What sense does that make?? LOL

When I first saw this back then, I figured the gg3 was the strongest glass that could be curved, while the gg5 wasn't able to curve as much and so only used on the back.
