- S8 and S8+ have slimmer bezels
S8 and S8+ IP68 waterproof
S8 and S8 Plus offer faster processor
Larger respective battery capacities on S8 and S8 Plus
Samsung devices come with AKG headphones05-03-2017 10:24 PMLike 3 - I have the S8, my wife the Pixel. She has had the Pixel since February. It's a nice phone, but looks dated to me. I like the stock Vanilla Android on the Pixel, and the camera to me is Better than the S8, not a huge difference but the colors always seem richer compared to the S8. I still went with the S8 over the Pixel, the better screen, newer processor and wireless charging were big deals to me. Pixel doesn't have wireless charging.Aquila likes this.05-03-2017 10:33 PMLike 1

- On my pc with a calibrated monitor, they look richer. Like the color saturation is boosted up a bit. Looks good right out of the camera. But I shoot in RAW, so I can achieve the same look in post editing, so that wasn't a big deal, Perfect for my wife that doesn't use Photoshop, or care to post process.Aquila likes this.05-03-2017 11:44 PMLike 1
- AlmeuitModerator Team LeaderIt is hard to really pin-point to be honest. Both are amazing phones .. It just depends what you want. I will miss the constant updates I got on my Pixel XL -- But other things like Samsung Pay are fun to have.juliobx2012 likes this.05-04-2017 01:37 AMLike 1

I have the Pixel XL and the S8+05-04-2017 02:09 AMLike 0 -
S8 Plus: $850 for 64GB and expandable storage capability, 6.2 inch, infinity display
The end05-04-2017 02:35 AMLike 7 - The end? First of all, the 32GB XL is $769, not $869. What about performance, camera, updates, security? Google's got Samsung beat there. Those things Google do better than Samsung are my main criteria. So, to me, S8's got nothing on the Pixel. Well, maybe, except the front design.05-04-2017 03:21 AMLike 4
- After half an hour of playing with my S8+, when I picked up my Pixel XL it suddenly felt very old - in particular the bezels were more obvious than they were before. :-)
I notice a difference in the cameras too. Pixel is better IMO - I've been less happy with some of the shots I've taken with the S8+.
I prefer to the Samsung Experience UI to stock Android too. It seems more refined and pleasing to the eye.
It feels like my Pixel charged faster than the S8 does. But i've bought a wireless charger now so I can place the S8+ on it while I'm at my desk throughout the day.
I liked how you could swipe down on the Pixel fingerprint scanner twice to bring your notifications within easy reach of your thumb. The S8+ only brings the notifications down one level.Aquila likes this.05-04-2017 04:22 AMLike 1 - S8+ has an updated processor, new Bluetooth, great camera, good build quality and a 1% larger battery.
Pixel XL has better software, better security, better build materials, a better design, better camera, better support from the oem, more storage, a great display that is flat and is way ahead on charging technology.
If all you're looking at is what's this do that the other doesn't do as well, then it's important to define what it is you want out of your phone. Both have several things that the other doesn't; once you get past what reviewers care about and settle on what's best for your needs it's easier to figure out which one might fit your needs better.Billy Bob Jimmy Joe and libra89 like this.05-04-2017 07:57 AMLike 2 - The end? For the average consumer, the S8+ seems like it's a much more feature packed device on paper. That's why I said it really matters which features that you're into. Samsung knocked this one out of the park.kevinpleasants likes this.05-04-2017 09:38 AMLike 1 -

Design would go to the S8+
Daydream is nice but so is the new Gear VR.....kinda evens out in that dept05-04-2017 09:44 AMLike 0 -
- I traded my pixel in for an s8+. I have a review comparing the two in the member review forum, but to sum it up: the Pixel has a great, probably better software experience than the S8. However where it lacks is in build quality, and overall design. When compared to the S8, it's just a cheaper feeling phone. It feels hollow and too light for it's own good. No water resistance and no wireless charging mean the S8 for a couple hundred more is a no brainier for me at least.05-04-2017 10:01 AMLike 2
- Storage goes to the S8+ as it comes with default 64GB out of the box and has SD card to add more. Charging? Not sure what that mean but the S8+ has fast wireless and fast wired charging. Build materials and pretty even between the two phones.

Storage - 128 is more than 64, both support expandable storage in the same quantities, one just uses the USB slot and the other uses a slot within the device.
Build materials - On that I just went with metal > glass due to durability, but both are using very good quality materials and both have excellent build quality.
Daydream - Only reason I brought this up is similar to charging. The Pixel is supporting a more up to date standard and the Gear VR, while for most people will be an acceptable alternative, it's not supporting the standard. (most consumers will never care about this)
Design is pretty subjective. I'd give it to the Pixel XL both functionally and aesthetically, obviously a lot of people would give it to the S8+ - As an example, I didn't know headphone jack on the bottom was a good thing, I suspect it's a preference thing.05-04-2017 10:04 AMLike 0 - I traded my pixel in for an s8+. - Charging - Samsung is still using their "FastCharge" which is Qualcomm's QuickCharge 2.0 rebranded. The Pixel XL supports USB Power Delivery. It's just a more up to date and better tech. (most consumers will never care about this)

Storage? Oh c'mon.....the Pixel base model has 32GB and the S8 has 64GB. Sure you can buy a 128GB model but I have a 256Gb SD Card in my S8+ so that adds upto 320GB of storage compared to the 128 you mentioned.
Daydream versus Gear VR......they both work just the same. I think there is more content through Oculus to be honest.
Design definitely goes to the S8+....even here on AC it was voted best Android phone here on AC.

Then metal versus glass....isn't the back of the Pixel ceramic glass? Yet they could get wireless charging done?
The headphone jack is part of the better design that goes to the S8+. If you have a headphone attached and put the phone in your pocket....now take it out...which way is the display facing? It is facing the right way for you to use your phone without having to turn it around. It goes to design and ease of use.pinkvikchick likes this.05-04-2017 10:28 AMLike 1
