    I have a 1 second delay with textra only because my autocorrect is horrible sometimes and I type really fast and hit send, it's like an automatic reaction.

    I 99% of the time see any mistakes with my text and cancel it within the 1 second

    I also have this problem. That is the reason why I am here. It just happend to me. I also had an S5 and loved the 5 sec delay feature.

    The reason I need 3 seconds delay when sending text message is sending to wrong person. I cand stop it before it's sent.
    Because the receiving message is notified on the top of the screen, I click on to reply, bring to previous text message which I sent last time. Then i write and send, it's too late to realise send to wrong person


    Does anyone have the problem?

    Seriously. It boggles my mind how people just don't take 2 seconds of their time to proofread or make sure they're sending something to the right person. Some people really are getting far too dependent on technology that they expect technology to cater to their laziness. It literally takes a few seconds. Unless you're sending something provocative or inappropriate and you accidentally send it to the wrong person, I can see how that could go wrong, but like I said, take the extra 2 seconds to make sure you send it to the right person lmao
    I personally don't care if texts aren't proofread -- My friends know what I meant :P.

    Unfortunately that is not what the OP is looking for. He wants a delayed send setting - not to have to schedule every message.

    It seems that some people don't even know their own devices (S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, S8) to EVEN know what all the features that came along with each and every device. Which those 'people' can make jokes, ridicule the OP and others who are asking of the Delayed features but don't even know what all features there were on the prior 'S' devices to more less offer the 'schedule' option. It's not rocket science for the definition and terminology between the features of setting "Scheduled" message and setting a "DELAY" for "SENDING" messages....big difference peeps....which i or others shouldn't explain....and appears that those must have never had or used the S5 devices to know what all features that are lacking from the S7....yes, i to would like some of those features back....delayed messaging is/was a life saver....anyways, my apologies for the ranting and being off topic...just wish there was a way to modify the stock APK....

    I use Chomp SMS. It has the option to delay send 1-10 seconds.

    My bad. I did misunderstand what was being asked.

    That being the case, I have an automatic delay. 1, 2,3,4,5.6,7,8,9,10. Works Everytime.

    Have you ever in your cell phone career sent a text message to the wrong person?? I had delay on my S5 it was my favorite feature. I once had a scathing opinion of my boss that I thought I was sharing with another co-worker. When I hit send to my horror realized it was going to my boss!!! Talk about heart pounding!! Luckily my 10 second delay was in effect and was promptly changed to 15 seconds. Lack of proof reading is not the issue. Have new cell now & better be able to get it or heads will roll! Thank U

    Yes. Before sending a message, go to the settings of the message at the top right and "schedule message". Once you have set the date/time, hit send. It will have a clock icon when you sent it to reflect an outbox message that hasn't been sent yet until the scheduled time. I do this all the time. In fact, I sent a message 2 days from now.

    Surprised nobody knows about this. Not necessary to download an app.
    I had the S5 & LOVED the delay messaging. I now have the S8 & if I knew that this feature wasn't on the phone & would have kept my S5.
    I Believe a lot of people would LOVE to be able to delay the current message they are sending in case sent to wrong person, which has happened to me before.
    I would like to know who to contact about this

    With Chomp SMS, there is a setting to delay sending for up to 10 seconds, if that's the feature you want.

    Solution Found. I had this same issue going from S5 to S8.

    The S8 has a stripped down version of Messages. To get the Delay Messaging function you have to:
    1. Remove your current Messages Icon off your Desktop pages. (If you don't you will have 2 with same name, but work differently.
    2. Go to the Google Play Store, and enter Messages, and download the Messages App. This is an ad supported version with more bells and whistles, including Delay Messaging. (Note it offers Download, not Update or Upgrade)
    3. After Install, you Open it.
    4. Go to Settings, then General.
    5. Top option should be Delayed Messaging. Turn it on
    6. The next item down is Delay Length, tap it, and chose a length.
    (At that point you should be good to go. I suggest sending a test message to a friend just to see if length is too long or short for you)
    7. Log out of the app, then log back in to insure the "New" app is set as the default.

    Other nice touches include Color Theme, Night Hours Setting and Time Stamp options.

    If I dwnld that Messages app you suggested, to get those advanced features, will I loose all the text history from the previous app, or will those old texts still fall in line & show in the new app?? And will uninstalling the original messages app make a difference in that & if so should I wait to uninstall the original until aftr the new one is working?

    They should all show up in the new app. You can try another text app without removing the current one. You can set one or the other as the default app but use either of them.
