Yesterday I was charging my S8+ with a Samsung Micro Usb cord with UsbC adapter, Samsung wall end. Changed fine but got hot. Temp according to the app went to 104.5°. It's been fine since but that raises a little concern.

which app would this be? if its not samsungs own, I would suspect the readings are not calibrated.

Anyways.. 104 is not a red zone, hell thats 5 degrees above body temp.

I would definitely verify calibration before being concerned.

104? That's it? Lol. My old V10 regularly got up to 120 to 125. And that was without charging. Just typical use

My S8+ got kinda warm while charging in the car yesterday, I suspect it was a combination of charging and being exposed to some sunlight tho. (this was the 1st time i remember it being that warm tho).

    Cheers,

It's using the old version of quick charge, and the old version does got hot from what I remember. If you're concerned, turn off quick charge and just leave it charging overnight.

Very true, it also depends on current weather conditions where you live. During a heat wave, my computer was running 20 degrees Celsius hotter then usual.

I never actually checked the temp, but my V10 would get quite warm daily. I've never felt my S8 ever getting even a touch warm. I do have GSAM battery monitor on my S8 and looked back through the history and my S8 battery has never gotten above 95.

I've personally never run the Cpu-z App to test the temperature but apps are not always accurate and i wouldn't rely on them. They more for round about readings. A better indication of whether you phone is too hot is simply to hold it. If it feels hot, then stop charging and try to cool it down. Maybe there was a rouge App using a lot of CPU time that made it a little hotter than normal.

I wouldn't worry to much about it unless its happening on a regular basis. If you are using all the official charging cables and adapters then everything should be fine.

I'm pretty sure the phone is smart enough to scale back the charge rate if it was to get too hot. I think that's gotta be part of the "adaptive" charge.

My S7 Edge routinely got to 117 degrees when running navigation and playing music. That's why I'm so glad I'm not using it anymore.

EXACTLY! Mine is around 90-100 charging. I do however place an air vent shooting at it in the work van while charging. Which can get it into the 70s but I try and only go as low as 85.

Regardless of the charging method, no issues with my GS8 getting warm. Whether I take it off the charger in the morning or in the car, it's always cool.

Did it start working again? I was using a solar panel to charge and left my phone in the sun. Overheated my S6 and it shut down charging until it cooled down. Worked fine after though.

Have you had any issues with the S6. When my son had one, at just 5 months old it quit turning on. After charging for literally 45 seconds to a minute, it got so hot we would have to set it down (stove top type of hot). He took very good care ofhisnphone. We got a warranty replacement and no issues since. Now he's got the 7edge and likes it.

You mentioned using a Samsung Micro Usb cord with UsbC adapter. Have you tried using the charger and cord that came with the phone? That cord doesn't need an adapter to fit into the USB Type C slot on the S8+.

I've been using the charger and cord that came with the phone and haven't noticed any rise in the phone's temperature.
