The glass is not scratching. It's the Oleophobic coating.
How do you know that it's even possible for the coating to exhibit visible scratches? Source, please?

Everyone will see these eventually over time if they look hard enough.
How do you know? I've been told that about each of my phones, and it simply hasn't happened.

No case. No screen protector. No scratches whatsoever. Had the phone since launch. What are you people doing with your phones??

Not a single scratch of any kind, been using it without a protector 99% of the time. This is what happens OP, when you keep your phone in a pocket without making sure it's free of coins, keys and dirt.

Zero scratches on my 8+ and had since launch. Even fine scratches would stand out with Gear VR.

Belt loop case FTW! Nerds rejoice!!

I had a case on since my 8+ came out of the box. Nothing on the screen. When I put my phone in a pocket (pants, jacket) it is THE ONLY item in that pocket. Simply makes NO sense to force a thunderdome cage match between a $1,000 phone and some keys. And who TF has pockets full of abasive sand! Might I suggest one stop crawling around on the ground or pouring fistfuls of gravel in your pockets. Hell try turning the pockets out at laundry time...

That rhinoshield tempered glass got some pretty bad reviews. Do you use it? If so, hows it holding up. Ive seen reports of it popping off really easily.

Was that phone put in somewhere with keys? Looks like key marks on the screen.
Put in same pocket with 2 phones. The other phone probably scratched it.

It just take one accidental scratch. Might not happen now, but eventually will.

Are you referring to the one zagg claims has real sapphire but is really a plastic screen protector they're selling for 50 bucks?

Got my first scratch today, and I have no clue how!!! Ordered a tempered glass! I'm currently using a wallet case, just really puzzled as to how it could have scratched. It's not bad, but I know it's there and it drives me crazy! LOL

Well I'm way to careful when it comes to smartphone protection, I always use a case on my phones it doesn't matter how beautiful it is, I just feel that's the way it should be, we spend so much money on a smartphone to just throw it away or scratch it? I think that's retarded, it doesn't matter how hard are the manufacturers trying top heavy smartphones unless is a the intention. I have the gs8+ and i'm having a spegen tough armor and I'm not having a screen protector or a glass screen protector, and trust me I really want to wear it but also think it should be alright without it, I'm only a month with my galaxy but will see how it goes.

How are oleophobic coating scratches better than glass scratches? A scratch still sucks equally

I work in a sandy environment, underground. Get sand in my pockets every day. Still don't have a scratch. Never a screen protector either.

Some have said surface scratches on the coating can be buffed out. Whether that's true or not, I can't say.

Oleophobic scratches won't distort the phone's light like glass scratches do.

Again, I wonder what evidence if any you have for that claim. If a scratch is visible, doesn't that mean it's distorting light? Distortion of light is precisely what makes an object visible.

I'm using the invisible guard by ringke wraps around the phone itself and is very case friendly.
