6 months in, burn-in on the S8+. I own a C7 OLED, I know the drill and treat this phone like a baby. Ran multiple apps to try to wipe yet no go. Samsung said they would repair, yet sending phone in isn't an option due to medical issues and this my only phone. S8 burn in: it finally happened-20180213_131828.jpg

My friend's S8 has a screen burn-in already, the keyboard is visibly burned in as well as the notification and web browser bar. So is it really that easy to burn in? Scared to buy an AMOLED screen phone again.. Also, why does the screen look red next to an LCD screen? Is that normal?

I have the regular s8 for roughly 8 months and I don't have any screen burn in yet. As long as you don't let the screen stay on a static image, you're fine. Of course, as time goes by, you will develop screen burn in but that is normal for amoled panels.

My screen doesn't look red but you can tune the display in the settings

My launch-day S8+ is showing no signs of burn-in -- that's almost 14 months. I'm not just going by my admittedly old eyes, but by my eagle-eyed son.

I will quality that by saying that I've rarely used AOD or any kind of screen saver; the night clock/alarm I use moves ever so slightly to avoid burn-in.

Dang, that's my biggest fear. I always turn off the screen when using Google Maps on an AMOLED phone... feel bad for Uber drivers with Samsung. Can you post a photo of it?

Sorry to hear about that, this is disappointing. My prediction came true, I did try to warn everyone.. Could you tell us more about your usage habits? Did you use high brightness often?

I used Google maps for some 700 mile trips. And at full brightness.
The trick is to go standby during your driving breaks. Or check some mail or web.
I do have a reddish screen, only adaptive mode makes it less noticable.
I see this on iPhones too btw, especially the x version. It's because of the amoled infinity display. Though not all have this. I've seen perfect screens also.

Yeah that is what I used to do when I owned a Galaxy... I turn off the screen during turn-by-turn navigation and just listen to the Google Maps voice instead.. kinda sucks though if you drive Uber or Lyft, guaranteed burn in..

What are the best settings to prevent burn in? Screen timeout time, navigation bar, brightness level..

It's the same as on a computer screen. Don't let it sit with a still image for hours.
But using a navigation app for some 3 hours should be fine. Your screen only need a split second refresh every now and then after all
As for the s8's with burn-in, could be those have flawed screens to begin with.

And if you're really worried, set your taskbar to hide mode in apps, because that's the first that could be affected.
Anyway, I have Auto brightness set, and it's always at 100% when using in the car as navigation.
