Google daydream finally available!

Interesting because in the article they specifically mention theirs showing up as compatible.

Yeah you can install the app but can't set it up yet. It mentions it in the article too



Edit- I tried going through the set up again and now it's allowing it so they must have flicked that switch lol. Time to shop for a new Daydream headset for me

More apps/games. Plus, you can use Google Play credit for those as opposed to Oculus'. Not sure I'd pay for a Daydream, though... if I got one for free like I got the Gear, then OK

So the good and the bad, you cant straight up use the gear vr and controller. You CAN use the gear vr with a number of 3rd party daydream remotes but with a slight catch. The gear vr dimensions are slightly different then daydream so the image can be a bit off, but if you enter your goggle type as gear vr some apps react badly and go into google cardboard mode, so no controller support and no way to register input to the screen. What we really need now is for google to bake gear vr support into the daydream app that still passes along that its daydream compatible to other vr apps, and to support the Samsung controller.

This update for daydream is really something that should have been there from day one. It is just to support the daydream equipment, not to use gear vr with daydream apps.

It started working yesterday, and then today most of the missing apps showed up! NextVR is interesting though, it appears in the Daydream store for me, BUT when I try to run the app via Daydream I get a message telling me to get my Gear VR. I'm not sure what would happen for someone who ONLY has a Daydream. (I have both)

I'd just like to thank AT&T for being one of the last carriers to enable this. /sarcasm
