Copying CD's to an S8 for my wife

I am trying to copy some CD's over to my wifes S8. She has a 64 GB SD card and she has 5 stop smoking CD's I want to put there. I googled it and tried Windows Media player but that didn't really work. Then I saw a you tube that looks like I can just the cd files over to a folder on her phone and use google music or Samsung music. Samsung music looks like it would work and I just copy the tracks over.

Is that the norm?

You can do that only if the CDs are already in a supported file format. If they're 'normal' audio CDs, you first need to convert them into MP3 or MP4 or any supported audio file. WMP should be able to handle that, or iTunes if you use that. Plethora of programs for PC for that, too... but WMP is already bundled with most Windows PCs, so that should be your first choice.

You may need to set WMP to save as MP3 format.
