How many of you put your phone down on a table or whatever face down? I put it face up as I feel there is less chance to scratch the screen.
But, then of course Edge lighting doesn't work. But, what is the advantage of putting the phone face down other than edge lighting?

I only put my phone face down if I have my OtterBox Defender case on it. I haven't done anything with the edge lighting though but I should try that tonight

It puts the screen to sleep if you have always on display turned on.
I usually have it facing up and on a soft surface like a book etc... It's a matter of what you prefer...

Saves battery on the AOD if you prefer to use it and in cases you don't, you have the option of face down.

If your case has a lip, or you have a screen protector, you can face it down no issues.

Man I really moss Gorilla Glass 3 right now. 4 and 5 were thinner and lighter, but less scratch resist than 3.

I place my Galaxy S8 face up and down almost randomly. I set up AOD off from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. Also it is off while in my pocket (it sences darkness). Edge lighting remains off while I keep phone face up.
