Third Party Adapters

I have a gutfeeling that if I use a third-party charging adapter, something might go wrong. The original samsung adapter has no extension, and is just sitting in the socket, attaching to the usb-cable. I have a third-party adapter, mainly used for my previous phone, which is 2 meters long. Anyone here care to explain why I shouldn't use it? Greatly appreciated.

As long as it is from a reputable brand then there is no reason not to use it. Personally I have not used the original Samsung charger that came in the box. I used left over chargers from phones like the 6p, and axon 7. I even indeed the MacBook pro charger every once in a while.
