Two minor things I'd like to see
And maybe settings for it exist and I'm just not aware of it. Educate me.
1) I wish the Samsung/Android editing option had that little cursor magnifying glass like the iPhone that lets you see where you're dropping the cursor more easily. It's awesome. I have a hard time getting the cursor exactly where I want it, that cursor magnifying glass always helped.
2)One of my previous Samsungs had thus cool feature when you wanted to rearrange apps where you could kind of "pin" the app to the top of the page and then swipe to the page you wanted to move it to and then unpin the app and put it on the page where you wanted. SO MUCH BETTER than dragging the app to the far left or right until you get to the page you want. Does anyone else remember this? Is that feature gone for good?

My S6 had that temporary holding area, S8+ does not. Idk if there's an option to turn it on, never made use of it myself.

Have you tried Nova launcher?
I know I had a launcher that diff what you are asking but would have been on my S6 I believe.

I found the Gboard keyboard to be very helpful with moving the cursor around all you have to do is slide your finger across the spacebar and it will move the cursor . Hope this helps

What would Nova Launcher change? I've never used it.

Ah man it was great for moving stuff around the app screens.
