I want to receive a sound notification on ALL text messages, using the default Messages app. Right now, if the app is open and the screen is unlocked - I put the phone down, receive a text message but no sound or screen notification. Even when I return back to my phone after unlocking it, there is no notification. How can I change the setting to receive a notification on ALL text messages?

    Thank you!

Welcome to Android Central! If the app is open to the message thread where a new message arrives, then it's normal for there not to be any notification (the rationale being that the user is presumably looking at the thread as the message comes in). I've seen this complaint fairly frequently in the forums -- the best solution is typically to install a 3rd party SMS app that will give notifications, even when the app is open to that thread. I think two apps that do this are Textra and Verizon Messages (you don't have to be on Verizon to use their messaging app).
