You can't put it in wrong (unless you force it). As for the phone not seeing it, shut the phone off, take the card out, put it in the PC again and see if it can be seen. If not, the card went bad.

If it can be, put it back in the phone - carefully so it sits exactly as it should - and turn the phone on again. If it still can't be read, it's the phone, and it has to go to a repair shop. Where you can get it warranty repaired depends on where you live. In the US, UBreakIFix handles Samsung's repairs. (You can find them by using the locator page.)

I tried with another SD card and it worked so I figured it was the card that is corrupt, when I put it in an adapter for my PC it asked to fix it I clicked on it but it still doesn't read in my phone

on a side note I can view all the files with my adapter on the pc but not in my phone it states sd card not inserted

Backup all your data to your PC then reformat the sd card

I have the same issue except I can't read on my pc so am unable to format drive and save files.

I have updated drivers, scanned for the card, and tried to use recovery software but am still unable to view the drive on any device.

The card does not appear physically damaged or dirty.

Is there any way to recover the files?

Put the card directly into the PC (use a USB adapter if you don't have an SD card slot in the PC). Run PhotoRec on the card (be prepared for a long wait - days if the card is large enough). If there are any readable files on the card, PhotoRec will find them and save them (to another storage device, like your hard drive). Id doesn't depend on the card's filesystem - that can be totally wiped. It recognizes a few hundred file formats and reads the files directly. (It's like tearing the table of contents and index out of a book - and having a program that scans the pages themselves looking for chapter breaks.)

You won't get file names - they're saved in the filesystem, but you will get file types - things like file0001.jpg or file0002.txt. You'll have to look at them to name them. (A lot of work but better than losing everything.)

Read the instructions at the site too. Unless you use Linux all the time, you'll be in a foreign country, but the instructions will lead you through it. And, as I said, don't sit there watching it. Grass grows faster at the North Pole in the winter.
