    Hello,

I just purchased an S8+ from ATT, and when I go to update the software to Android Oreo I do not have that option. As a matter of fact, the latest security patch that it will allow me to install via the software update setting is from June of 2017... What am I doing wrong? Is there something wrong with my phone or should I just give it some time?

    Thanks!

If you purchased the phone from AT&T directly I would take it back to them and get it straightened out. My unlocked S8+ is running 8.0 (Oreo) and is on the April 2018 patch.

I don't know which patch you should be on for certain because carrier versions aren't necessarily on the same schedule as the unlocked devices but they should be close. You should be on a much more recent patch than June 2017.

I'm fairly sure all the carrier versions have received the Oreo update.

I was hoping someone with an AT&T version would chime in. Thanks!

When I had to replace my phone in March the first security patch that came through was the Dec 2017 patch. It may take a week or two for the updated security patch and oreo to start coming through. If you don't want to wait, do as badcat suggested and take the phone back to att to see if they can update the phone.

Go to your local AT&T store and ask where the Device Support Center is. Go there and ask them why you just bought such an old phone, and whether they can bring it up to date. (Bring a book to read - some of the updates aren't cumulative, so they may have to do a few to make the phone current.)

I am thinking, maybe someone rooted the phone to prevent updates so they would stop getting the update message spam?
