Verizon Galaxy S8 I don't know why but this is driving me crazy and I'm about to have a melt down

I am going to attempt to try to figure out how to post a pic of this problem because I can't relate slain it multiwindow is off and so a split screen so I am at a complete loss. If anyone know if how this happened or how to fix it you might be responsible for me actually having one day of a happy New Year so far I appreciate any help that there is I have googled all over the place and it just tells you are turn it off and on and it off

I'm guessing you're trying to get the recent apps to become a grid of pics instead of the list?

press the 3 dots in the top right and press "thumbnail view"
