My battery life on my S8 is absolutely horrible these days. I've shut off background usage on every app I can, but with the number of emails I'm typing out, my battery life barely gets me to 2PM where I used to be able to get through an entire day and night. Anyone have Batteries Plus put in a new battery? I did that for my son's iPhone 6s a while back and the battery life on that battery didn't seem much better than the old worn out one in the iphone.

Batteries Plus doesn't make cells, they just make batteries. (They put cells into a case that fits into the phone.) They used to be among the best for NiCd and NiMH, but lithium is a catch-as-catch-can business. Most cells are made in China, so some are excellent, some are terrible. And since neither you nor companies like Batteries Plus can find out who made any particular cell, until the technology changes (the industry is throwing money at it like a fire department throws water on a burning building on an ocean dock - because full use of electric cars will depend on fuel cells or lithium batteries), we all take our chances. (After almost 50 years in the electronics industry, some of it developing batteries for Eveready, I still take a chance any time I buy a lithium battery. And I've been stung more than once.)

Hopefully, more folks will weigh in. I was just looking at the Batteries Plus web site this morning contemplating replacing my S8 battery. I concur, that I am not sure I would trust anything other than a Samsung OEM battery and I too came to the conclusion that Batteries Plus isn't selling a genuine OEM battery.

I am not necessarily worried that a Batteries Plus battery will fail, I am just not convinced it will improve my situation.

I am also somewhat surprised (and dismayed) that I can't find an app that can reliably tell me my battery health -- I.E. how much my S8 battery has deteriorated. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, as it has been well reported that the smartphone industry is kicking and dragging it's heels to flight right to repair, especially when it comes to an inexpensive means to replace a battery since they want to sell you a new phone.

I think NO MOBILE PHONE manufacturer should get a "pass" in the court of public opinion concerning their "green practices" unless they offer a reasonable battery replacement program.

good point on finding an app to evaluate battery health. my ThinkPad can tell me exactly what the remaining capacity is as the battery ages. thereust be something like that for Android.

I've searched high and low for such an Android app. My Lenovo laptop also has such a program. Bottom line, is the cell phone carriers don't want YOU TO KNOW. They want you to buy a new phone. I believe Apple came up with such an app when they got caught "throttling" their phones to work better with IOS.

Premium SmartPhone customers should be DEMANDING a reasonable battery replacement program, since probably the NUMBER ONE reason folks buy a new phone is battery deterioration.

I'm guessing my battery max capacity has been reduced by at least 30% over the 20 months I've had this phone. probably down to 2100 mAh or so....
