i am a beginner who attempted to root my phone. I failed 2x so far the 1st time I ws able to get it back to factory firmware/etc
without the proper button sequence to put it into download mode, the only thing it will do is boot to the android robot screen (darker blue than downloading), then it will say no command and reboot over and over again... I have tried to install some firmware that seems like the right one/s and i have had no succcess. So another question would be how do i figure out the exct firmaware it needs, and Odin to go with it?~

Welcome to AC. First you're asking a very specific question about a specific device, in a general ask a question forum. This lowers the chance of you really getting an answer. Secondly the answer will probably require some back and forth and posting anonymously will not allow you to reply to this thread or field questions, so please register an account to reply to this thread. Then there can be two way communication. This link will help. https://forums.androidcentral.com/as...-new-post.html

I'm going to be straight up with you, your best bet will be seeking advice at XDA Developers. There many of the members are into rooting, ROMs and mods. If anyone can help you with root they can. A word of advice you will want to register an account there as well to receive help. Plus by registering it allows you more access to the forums where you may find one for your device with instructions already or even the answer to your question.

You can find the correct firmware at https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/ga...ware/SM-G950U/

Go back to download mode and install it.

Then don't try rooting again until you learn about rooting. (Unless you're using Magisk, you're working at the system level, which can totally corrupt the entire Android installation. [Download and recovery are in different partitions than Android, so they stay okay if you're lucky.])

If you happen to have (or find, on XDA) a boot.img file for that phone, and instructions on how to install it (I've never figured out how to flash the boot.img file on a Samsung), you can try that, because if that one file gets corrupted, the phone will boot into recovery. Restoring that one file will get you back to your normal Android screen, with everything intact. (Of course, whatever you did to root the phone might have wiped the Android partitions out.)
