Most likely because the update cleared cache. Unlikely the update included anything to improve performance that much.

Did you get it working? If not try holding power+Volume Down for 10 seconds to force it to reboot.

Dunno... Phone feels so much faster and if cache would have been the problem, I've cleared it before and it didn't last this long even when new. I wasn't getting bad battery life before though, just this is noticeable after the update. 3 hours off the charger with my normal usage pattern and I'm only down 10% whereas before I'd be down 15 or 20.

Nope. Couldn't hard reset, safe mode, couldn't turn it off. Brought it to the walk-in service center in Maywood NJ, they couldn't either, it fried the motherboard.

Argued with Samsung on the phone for an hour + to give me a new phone, they were adamant they wouldn't, would only fix mine, it was passed the 14 day return period.

I wasn't the only one at this service center with this issue.

Going to start writing emails to corporate, unacceptable to me that I wasn't given a brand new replacement phone when it was purchased less than a month ago and in use for less than 3 weeks.

This might be derailing from the original topic, but you really need to read the warranty terms. I know, it's frustrating that you're going through this and usually you would expect a better, faster solution especially if it was the update that caused the issue, BUT their warranty terms are pretty clear. If this is a T-Mobile phone and it was bought at T-Mobile, I'd try giving them a call and maybe they will offer a faster replacement, but still, warranty terms are pretty clear (even if the unit cannot be replaced, they are not obligated to give you a new unit but a refurbished one...).

I hear you, I mean I really do, but we're talking about a phone less than a month old.

And it was bought from Samsung directly, outright.

Kind of wish I bought it from T-Mobile, almost guaranteed I would have walked out of the store with a new phone.

If it's more than 14 days old more times than not the store cannot swap it out, you have to go through customer care.
