Anyone else a bit disappointed....
Can't allocate specific sounds to my individual contacts anymore. Why why why remove it. Disappointed

I assume you mean the TEXT notifications (calls can still be per-contact). This is not just an S9 line change; they changed it in all of their messaging apps updated to Oreo. I, for one, didn't even notice but I know a lot of people here miss that feature. The beauty of Android is that you don't have to stick with what the manufacturer gives you, so you can use a 3rd party app that supports per-contact/thread sounds, like Textra :) (Plus, I believe you'll like the customization options you'll get, which were also stripped from the stock messaging app).

Sure you can I use the texting app called Textra and under customization you can give each and every contact its own unique notification sound if that's in fact what you're curious about

You can do this using the Messages+ app if you're with Verizon. It comes loaded on the S9(+)
