I don't have anything in my gallery that I wouldn't want my grandma to see But, am I out of the danger zone since I use Verizon's Messages+ (Plus)? I haven't seen that mentioned.

The article that I read seemed to suggest that this has to do with T-Mobile rolling out this new texting profile that allows people to send out files of 100MB and a few other things. Are the people in this thread that have had this happen using T-Mobile phones? What about the unlocked version of the S9/S9+?

Obviously, as soon as I read about this I disabled Samsung Messages and installed Android Messages. It doesn't support T-Mobile advanced messaging, which sucks. But it has a web interface, which is great.
Fortunately, none of my contacts used T-Mobile advanced messaging, so I didn't lose much by switching to Android Messages (and I gained web-based messaging from my computer). It's a much cleaner app than Samsung Messages, too.

It is a big deal mainly due to invasion of privacy. I don't have sensitive pics on my phone but don't want to share them with all of my contacts. Secondly in the UK it cost 40p to send a picture message via mms so imagine sending out your whole gallery via mms. The cost would be ridiculous. Don't have a sim in my s9 plus as the moment and but I've disable the storage permissions anyway.

I'm not one to take suggesting a lawsuit lightly, but I think one would be justified here. A class action for anyone that lost a job, had their identity stolen, or suffered other negative consequences would be right to want Samsung and/or TMO to make things right again. As best they can, anyway. Unfortunately, those usually are little more than a payday for the lawyers.

Good luck..... There would have to be proof that it was this issue that caused those things to happen. We also have no idea how widespread (or not) the issue really is.

It doesn't matter what kind of pictures that people have. They should be able to keep whatever they want on their own phone. In some cases, people have reported that EVERY picture in their camera roll had been sent to random contacts. That can cause all kinds of problems.
    I was joking.

Photos could be taken of recipients' phones with the received pictures; time-stamped. It would be tricker to prove that they were unsent by the sender, however; but at least in this case alone, if one's supervisor gets a bunch of pictures that were obviously unintended for them, perhaps that is proof enough.

I agree with you. I'm not one to jump on the sue train either, but in this case, it's more than justified.

Most likely, the carrier's Terms of Service state that you cannot sue you have to go to arbitration or small claims court.

My girlfriends S9 has been doing this.
The other day while she was sitting next to me her phone sent 2 pictures (luckily to me!).
    Switched her over to Textra.
    Problem solved.

But isn't this waiving the right to sue t mobile only?

    Samsung can still be sued.

just wondering if you're both on the same plan? seems all the articles ive read refer to the same 2 cases. and both were on the same plan. just looking for common denominator. also was it a pic from the "camera roll" or a pic from another folder? one person said the whole gallery was sent(?)
also internal storage or sd card?? odd that there's no update on this issue from Samsung or any of the sites for that matter that were so quick to report it last week.

You are right, it is very odd that there is no update from Samsung about this... It's too huge of an issue for there to be no updates/comments/reports.

Yes, we're both on T-mobile. Under 1 account.
First picture was a gif that was from SwiftKey and the other was a picture taken from her camera.
    All from internal storage.

stranger still, it's sending gifs too and not just pics snapped from camera. scary to think if it could send contents from secure folder somehow.
you would think that a "sent" message via the handset would show up as sent. that's the really odd part.

    Yes definitely.
She had nothing in her messaging app at all.
But since switching her to Textra (which imo is a much better app) there hasn't been any issues.

If the problem is only happening on T-Mobile & not other carriers, how is it Samsung's fault? They (Samsung) can/will blame the carrier.

I've read online of 1 At&t and 1 sprint customer claiming it happened to them. Even if that turns out to be true, the low numbers overall makes this an odd issue. so far all seem to be on same accounts, so seems not really a "random" contact that the pics were sent to.

From what I understand, it won't affect the unlocked S9/S9+, just the T-Mobile versions.
