As I discovered when I visited a Bell Mobility store recently, the default UI font on Pixel phones is not Google/Product Sans. Such a pity since it does look so good when applied system-wide.

Sorry, but I don't completely understand what you're showing in these screenshots. Is there an app called system wide custom fonts? Is the font style Koodo?

Koodo is the name of my carrier.

I'm just showcasing what the phone's interface looks like with the font set to "Google Sans" (which is Google's current main branding font, if you will.)

System-wide custom fonts refers to the ability to set the font across every aspect (almost) of the phone's software. You can set it in Settings --> Display --> Font. However, if you want to use a font not offered directly from Samsung, you have to get creative πŸ˜‡

I see. Yeah, I have Google's product sans set as my system font, and I really like it. There's one app in play store (A Fonts) which works well and doesn't require root.

Does it work with Pie? (don't try it now!)

Not sure. I only wanted the Google Sans font and luckily I could do it with just the free version of that app. The font and its settings stayed intact through the Pie update. In fact, the font is in the correct folder when I go into settings to select the system font, so I could uninstall the app if I wanted at this point.

    Wait...

That's the Google font everyone is all excited about?

I don't know. That's just Avant Garde. And I used that so much back in the mid to late 90s for presentation and title block lettering that I'm kind of sick of it now.

    Not quite.

See these pics. Email window is Google Sans. The other one is Avant Garde.

I know it's not an exact match, but still too close to me.

    :shudders:

    Okay, being a little facetious.
