Galaxy Tab A 10.1, wifi, US version, SM-T580
Left my tablet in the car during freezing cold temps. I thought maybe the battery was just dead, but won't charge. When plugged in boot fails.
First it would say Could not normal boot Invalid kernel Length.
Then I finally got it to try recovery, but fails. A bunch of E: failed to mount errors. Last one being E: can't mount /cache/recovery/last_locale
As far as I know it was on the latest version last released.
I have never messed with the OS trying to root etc.
Samfirm seems to be outdated. Used samupdate website I grabbed these two files
Nougat 7 - kfhost.net-SM-T580_1_20180521143114_v1q2staqzh_fac
Oreo 8.1.0 - kfhost.net-SM-T580_1_20201221153234_x23q2jerhi_fac

Both have 4 files. AP, BL, CSC and Home CSC.

Using Odin 3.14.4, I load AP, BL and CSC. Tablet is connected and showing odin downloading. I click start and it starts. Both file versions fail on sboot.

How long was it in the freezing temp ? Have you tried to let it warm up ? If it was long period of time might need a repair center

Probably been in my vehicle for a week or so. Not all days/nights got that cold. So hard to say. It's been inside now over 48 hours and at normal room temp.
I had an SD card in it, and removed it. No luck. My PC can't read the card so guessing that got corrupt too somehow.

You might have to experiment with different Odin versions , havnt flashed a tablet so not sure if u need to use all 4 slots

Yes, very familiar. And yes, the vast majority use the 4 file (or 3 file, if it's a wifi-only device) format. Only a very few old models still use the all-in-one tar file

Make sure the firmware your using is same bootloader or higher , where did you get the firmware?

Make sure you're flashing the Oreo firmware - the Nougat one is useless to you, as it won't flash. And try doing it with HOME CSC instead of the non-HOME one

Here is the oreo 8.1.0 which I think is the last release for this tablet. I'm not positive what is/was on my tablet, but I know it would have been whatever the last release/update was since it has been a few years.

I tried again with Home, no luck and then tried again with CSC. It seemed to go farther this time but failed. Log below

Then log with just CSC again and got a little farther. Something in the log keeps flagging and won't let me post it, says remove links or references to money. can't tell what is doing it.

Then post pictures, including any and all text that you see on the tablet screen itself. It should be throwing an error message in red, if Odin fails

The screen will flicker sometimes and other times is solid. I have used two different cables with the same outcome. The connections are solid too, so don't think it is that.

Try from reputable source like SamMobile, Frija,xda

Also make sure if tablet show white progress bar you will need to reboot in download mode to clear

Ok, rebooted into download mode, screen was solid, started with Home CSC, progress was going and then failed.

It's not the firmware and it's not the cables and it's not the computer. Based on the errors in recovery mode, your emmc is likely failing (or has failed already). Happens with all devices eventually - it's just a question of time. But subjecting it to freezing temps for that long likely didn't help

Ok try those sites with firmware , make sure same bootloader or higher if still a issue then needs repair shop , possible hardware failure
Try also the lower version odin

Ok, thanks for everyone's help. At this point I'm going to consider it toast and look for a new one. Not sure if these are good for parts, but if anyone is interested reach out to me.
