android download of DVD movies for "dummies"

I've downloaded 4 different software conversion programs, not knowing what the heck I was doing. I haven't a clue what "Ripping" is, what I'm supposed to do on each one of the software programs or anything about this issue. I bought my wife a Samsung Galaxy tablet 10.1 and am trying to transfer some DVD movies we have to it so she'll be able to watch them. I've spent 3 days of unrewarded effort to load anything useful. Some downloads have shown upwards of 12 chapters into a file that I can't use. I simply don't have a clue what I'm doing. Help! Looking for basic step-by-step instructions and tutorials on what all this stuff means. So far I've loaded ANS, AVS, HANDBREAK and DVDFAB. This is supposed to be easy (if you're 14 and can talk the talk)

After you rip a movie transfer to you tab and use the app Rockplayer to play movie
