Samsung G Tab 2 charging loop

I've been having an issue with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. Whenever I connect it to the charger, the battery icon would come up, then it would start charging for 2 seconds, then it would go back blank and start over again (it does that for hours) and when I disconnect it from the charger, it wouldn't turn on, which shows that it wasn't charging. When I first got it, I was having that same problem, but then it stopped, and it would only charge when it's off. My tablet is fairly new, it hasn't dropped before, and I've been using the original charger to charge it. I've googled solutions to this problem, but none of them worked - I did a power reset, I held down both the power and volume button at the same time, I connected the tablet to a pc, I changed the charger - but as I said, nothing worked. Could someone please advise me on this issue, and what to do about it. It would be greatly appreciated.
