Samsung 10.1 completely frozen, how can I unfreeze it?

Samsung 10.1 completely frozen

I think the battery on my 10.1 tablet would have been very drained with no charging for several weeks. Charged it for a day or so and all I can see is an empty battery on the screen with the little spinning thing absolutely frozen.

I have tried
- holding the power button down for 10 seconds
- holding volume and power, format and reboot
- pulled the back off and disconnected battery overnight

and still see the same thing.

Would appreciate any other ideas......

Here's a picture of the battery..... Some times I see the "Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1" screen as well but it freezes there. The battery appears when it is charging.
