Ok so I just got Samsung Galaxy tab 2 SGH-T779 wondering

I know this is far from new but I don't do anything crazy with it. I am wondering if it is worth rooting to get rid of all the T-Mobile stuff on it, because I am going to be using this for wifi only.
2nd I am curious as to what is that latest version of Android anyone has got this tablet running.

If anyone has any info or an opinion it would be appreciated.
